Chmer DWC656 Fast Wire EDM Electrical Discharge Machine (2026) The DWC656 Fast Wire EDM is the product of decades of experience building EDM machine tools. It is a three-piece design, comprised of the machine tool, DI tank, and CNC control.
• Ultra-high precision ballscrews and HiWin® Linear Guideways
• Direct drive AC servo motors on the X,Y,Z,U and V axes with rotary encoder feedback.
• Solid round wire guides, not split guides
• Remote pendant control – jog and edge find etc.
• Auto lube system
• Work light
Construction
The casting is a very rigid design to ensure longevity, stability, and offset the effects of temperature fluctuation.
The X & Y axes ride on HiWin® Linear Guideways and are powered by a Panasonic AC servo motor with a rotary encoder for feedback. The drives move the work piece through the reciprocating molybdenum wire to remove the 3D printed part from the build plate. The EDM cutting is done non-submerged in the water-based dielectric using a light water-soluble oil in 15% solution.
The EDMMax DWC656 Fast Wire EM is designed for long term precision and reliability.

Details of CNC Control Features
The DWC656 Fast Wire EDM is an affordable solution to removing metal 3D additive parts from the build plate. Unlike traditional brass wire EDMs, the reusable molybdenum wire automatically reverses its direction at the end of the spooling cycle; at which time, the program feed rate briefly pauses and then ramps up as the wire feeds in the opposite direction. This wire may run up to 40-50 hours before replacing depending on workpiece size and material type.
Unlike traditional wire EDMs, the Fast Wire EDMs are NOT FLUSH DEPENDENT! By this we mean that these Fast Wire EDMs will cut equally well in both good and bad flushing conditions! The dielectric is deionized water, with an oil based additive and the fast-moving wire (5 meters/second) pulls the swarf (chips) through the kerf without relying on high flush pressure. It is almost impossible to break the moly wire until it finally wears out.
In real cutting tests, we are seeing speeds of 2-3 times faster than traditional wire EDMs in poor flush conditions like 3D additive build plates. These Fast Wire EDMs come complete on-site training; all you need to add is power 220/3/60 5kVA and water.
