The Mitsubishi M-V70E-FM vertical machining center with the FM Series control has many features designed to reduce both cutting and non-cutting times, making it a cost-effective, high accuracy addition to any shop throughout the die making, mold making and production machining industries.
The Mitsubishi high speed machining, "FM control", is based on the Fanuc16iMA, it is a unique system that utilizes the Fanuc 64 bit RISC board combined with Mitsubishi's innovative Integrated Control Technology based on Inverse Transfer Function Control.
Among the machines many features are a highly rigid structure, a completely redesigned, 40 hp low-vibration spindle, direct drive 12,000 rpm spindle, innovative roller bearing guideways, high power feed motors on all axes, and a special cam-type, automatic tool changer, which provides extremely fast, 2.0 second tool-to-tool change time.
The M-V70E-FM features a new spindle design that places the front bearing 25% closer to the spindle end, in addition the wall thickness at the spindle nose has been increased substantially, these improvements combine to increase spindle rigidity by 30% to allow for heavy duty machining. Furthermore, spindle vibration has been reduced to less than .003mm (.0001in) throughout the spindle speed range by using a newly designed tool-locking mechanism and by executing precise balancing tests during each stage of spindle assembly.
Included standard on the M-V70E-FM is a precision feedback system, manufactured by Mitsubishi, on all three axes (X, Y, Z) which verifies final positions of table, saddle, and headstock. In addition to this, a fully developed thermal displacement compensation system is included. With the precision feedback system and the thermal displacement compensation system, plus the spindle cooling system, a positioning accuracy of ± .000060" and repeatability of ± .00003" can be obtained, and relative displacement between the working table and the spindle can be kept within ± 0.0004. In addition, to reduce temperature rise and significantly improve machining accuracy, an internal chip conveyor directs cutting fluids and hot cutting chips away from the machine. The result is a control/machine package that yields surface finishes of less than .003 mm (.0001 in) with significantly reduced cycle times.
